About Us
What Is Your Why (W.I.Y.Y) is dedicated to fostering personal and academic growth for middle school students who are or have been impacted by the foster care system. Our mentorship program connects these promising young students with exemplary high school mentors who excel not only academically but also in compassion and drive.

Founder's Message
As a first-generation college student, It was through the guidance of mentors that I learned to transform obstacles into opportunities for growth and achievement.
Today, we aspire to do the same for our students. We are dedicated to showing them that greatness is within their reach, reassuring them that their past and present circumstances do not define their future. With perseverance, they can realize their full potential and become the best version of themselves.
Our mission is to empower youth to recognize their capabilities and overcome challenges like imposter syndrome, guiding them towards a future filled with promise and opportunity. Together, we can inspire and support our students as they navigate their paths toward success and fulfillment.

Mission
our mission is to transform the lives of middle school students affected by the foster care system by guiding and nurturing them through a robust mentorship program. Our unique approach pairs promising 6th to 8th graders with high-achieving high school students from the NYC metropolitan area, aiming to help each participant discover their unique purpose and develop the skills necessary to achieve their full potential. In doing so, we not only empower our middle school mentees but also provide valuable opportunities for growth and development to our high school mentors. Together, we strive to foster a brighter future and cultivate leaders within marginalized communities.
